Uni Drs... maybe the way to go.

oh here is a good one I like - this is a medical office associated with UMD: University Laser Vision Center (in Baltimore)- one of the Drs seems to be Iranian and I kind of like the way he looks.
And i just realized that maybe the $1-2k price that i kept hearing is per eye.
Also for once this places kind of breaks down the price. So maybe the two expensive surgeries were custom - maybe hopefully I will require a normal surgery and so it will cost less.
I really should still call the doctors and see what they say.

Another place to check out is the John Hopkins Uni medical center. Here is a nice FAQ these guys have.

Here is a nice description of the procedure, with pretty pictures :-)
Also here is another list of questions to ask the Dr.

Two Doctors

Right now I have the names of two Drs with known results:

- Dr Roy Rubinfeld from Lasik Eye Surgery who seems to be pretty famous and quite costly (~$5k)
- Dr Jonathan Solomon from Solomon Eye Associates whose surgery also cost ~$4k

I thought Lasik surgeries cost a lot less!! someone told me on the scale of $1-2k.

Top 5 qualifications for a Surgeon

Rockville, Md.: In researching and selecting a doctor to perform Lasik surgery, what do you consider to be the top five qualifications a surgeon should possess?

Dr. Roy Rubinfeld:

1 - Experience.

2 - The ability to handle any potential post-operative problems.

3 - Does the doctor routinely lecture to other doctors about these procedures?

4 - Does the doctor provide several different procedures or do they only do Lasik? The doctor needs to be able to find the best procedure for your eyes and your needs. Trying to put a square peg into a round hole is not a good idea.

5 - Where do I fall in terms of being a candidate from one to five, with five being the most difficult patient the surgeon would still consider performing surgery on and one being the most plain vanilla patient around.
